Police in Buyende District are investigating a serious case of unlawful wounding following a violent domestic-related incident that left a local council leader critically injured.

The victim has been identified as Robert Bebwa (51), the LC I Vice Chairperson of Butayunjwa B Village. Preliminary police findings indicate that Bebwa was allegedly waylaid and assaulted by two women believed to be his spouses.

The suspects have been identified as Esther Naluvuma (44) and Norah Nakayunja (53), both residents of Buyanja Sub-county. Police say the attack is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute linked to accusations of infidelity.

According to Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson SSP Samson Lubega, the incident was reported to Kidera Police Station on the night of December 15, 2025, at around 10:00 p.m. The assault occurred in Butayunjwa B Village, Buyanja Sub-county.

During the confrontation, the suspects allegedly attacked Bebwa using a sharp object, inflicting severe injuries to his private parts. He was rushed to Kidera Health Centre IV, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

Both suspects have since been arrested and are being held in police custody to assist with ongoing investigations. Police say they will be formally charged once inquiries are concluded.

SSP Lubega condemned the incident, describing it as an unacceptable act of violence, particularly within a domestic setting.

“Domestic violence in all its forms is strongly discouraged. We urge the public to seek peaceful and lawful means of resolving conflicts by involving community leaders, the police or other relevant authorities, rather than resorting to violence,” he said.

Police noted that similar incidents involving domestic violence have been reported in Buyende and neighbouring Kamuli districts, raising concern over the prevalence of such cases in the region.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
