State House Imposter who Fled With Shs5m Accumulated Hotel Bill in Busia Arrested in Kamuli

A man who has been on the run after impersonating State House staff to secure accommodation in a Busia hotel for 34 days, during which he accumulated bills amounting to over Shs5 million has been arrested.

Solomon Buyizi Ssemakula checked into Gold Star Hotel in Busia on October 13, 2025, identifying himself as a State House employee attached to the Presidential Press Unit (PPU) and that he was part of the advance team and slept in the hotel as well as using its services for free for over a month.

He fled the hotel after accumulating bills worth shs5 million.

However, on Thursday, the suspect was arrested by security in Kamuli district as he tried to sneak into Bupadhengo primary school grounds in Nawanyango town council, Buzaya constituency where President Museveni was set to hold a rally.

SFC spokesperson, Maj Jimmy Omara confirmed the arrest.

“As earlier communicated, we promised to bring the imposter to book, and today, police arrested him as he gained entry into yet another NRM rally in Busoga sub region,” Maj Omara said.

“We thank the people for helping security identify Buyizi, it's through your cooperation that he was arrested.”

Buyizi has been taken to Kamuli Police from where he will be taken back to the scene of crime in Busia where he faces charges of theft under SD Ref 38/13/11/2025.
