North West Nile Region Police Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Collins Asea, confirmed the arrest and described the incident as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable.”

“This is a horrific violation against an innocent child. The victim is only a year and nine months old, meaning she cannot speak for herself. Such brutality is criminal, immoral, and must be condemned by all,” SP Asea stated.

Police responded swiftly after the report was filed at 7:30 PM, visiting and documenting the crime scene. A PF3A medical form was issued and later retrieved after examination confirmed the toddler had sustained multiple injuries in her genital area.

SP Asea further revealed that the suspect is a biological uncle to the victim.

“The involvement of a close relative in such a crime makes it even more painful for the family and the community. We want to assure the public that the suspect is already in custody and investigations are progressing with urgency,” he said.

He urged communities across the region to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of child abuse immediately.

“Protecting children is a collective responsibility. We encourage parents, guardians, and community members to speak out. Silence only empowers offenders,” SP Asea emphasised.

Police say updates will be provided as investigations continue.
