Bryan White Investigated for Murder After Lover Dies in Fire Incident

Former socialite and moneybag Brian Kirumira is back in the news for all the wrong reasons after a woman reportedly died in an incident at his home in Makindye suburb of Kampala on Monday.

Police say Ms Caroline Nalubwama, 25, was killed in what is being treated as a suspicious death, at the home of Mr Kirumira, popularly known as Bryan White.

Local media earlier reported that Bryan White had been taken into custody but metropolitan police said he was only being treated as a suspect and his home a crime scene at this time of investigation.

Police said the incident occurred on October 27, 2025, at Bryan White’s residence in Kyamula, Makindye Division.

Nalubwama was rushed to Kiruddu Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said in a statement that detectives had cordoned off the premises to establish the circumstances of Nalubwama’s death.

“The territorial police at Katwe are actively investigating the circumstances under which one Nalubwama Caroline, aged 25, allegedly sustained serious injuries resulting in her death,” Owoyesigyire said.

“A team of detectives visited the scene of crime together with other relevant officers. The scene was examined, documented, and relevant exhibits were recovered to aid in the ongoing investigations.”

Owoyesigyire added that the deceased’s body was taken to City Mortuary Mulago for a post-mortem examination, while "the suspect"—Bryan White—who also sustained injuries during the incident, is receiving medical attention and has recorded a statement to assist investigators.

“Efforts are underway to retrieve available CCTV footage and interview additional witnesses to piece together the actual sequence of events,” he said.

According to Spy Reports, which first broke the story, the incident is believed to have been caused by a gas explosion that severely burned Nalubwama and partially damaged property within the house.

The outlet reported that Caroline’s father, Tom Mutyaba, 52, reported the matter to Katwe Police Station under case reference DEF 73/2025, prompting detectives, forensic experts, and fire officers to examine the scene.

Police sources quoted by the publication said investigators recovered burnt clothes and damaged curtains, which have been taken for forensic analysis.

Bryan White, once one of Kampala’s most flamboyant personalities, rose to fame between 2017 and 2019 for his ostentatious displays of wealth and claims of supporting the youth through charity drives.

His high-profile associations with top political figures earned him both public attention and controversy.

Five years ago, Bryan White was at the center of a major public scandal after several young women accused him of sexual exploitation and physical assault at his home and through his charity, the Bryan White Foundation.

Among them was Vivian Mutanda, who in a televised interview alleged that the foundation operated more like a brothel than a charity, where girls were supplied with alcohol and coerced into group sex.

Mutanda claimed that Bryan White forced her and others to abort pregnancies, insisting he wanted to keep using them without fathering children.

Another girl, Stella Nandawula, had earlier appeared in a viral video accusing the socialite of sexual harassment and abuse, but she later recanted, alleging the recording had been orchestrated by his enemies.

However, Mutanda maintained that Bryan White used his influence and supposed links to government to lure and exploit young women, describing him as “a very evil man” who should never be allowed to abuse anyone’s daughter again.

After the damning public allegations, Bryan White arranged for an exclusive interview with the Nile Post editor Jacobs Odongo Seaman - then at Daily Monitor - at a home in Buziga where he was plugged to oxygen cylinders and claimed he was suffering from serious illness for which he needed to be on oxygen.

He said then that some people around President Museveni had blocked his path out of envy for his youth activities and wanted the head of state to consider his service once more.

However, Mr Museveni does not seem to have taken note and the 2021 election campaign went on with other players in the mix.

The current election has no such script with youth empowerment drives appearing to have been streamlined under the presidency's wealth creation programs.

However, despite a string of incidents and Parliament's calls for his prosecution, Bryan White has largely walked scot-free.

The latest incident has thrust the socialite back into the spotlight after years of relative quiet.
