Kazo Woman Enlists Police Officer to Help Kill Her Husband

Police in Kazo District are investigating a shocking murder plot allegedly hatched by a woman and a police officer to kill her husband.

The two were arrested after the people they hired to commit the crime reported the plan to local authorities.

Police have confirmed the arrest of District Community Liaison Officer (CLO) Steven Bebaze, attached to Kazo Central Police Station, and Zam Kyokuhaire, the wife of the intended victim, over a plot to murder Kasim Musinguzi, a taxi driver on the Mpara–Kazo route.

According to police sources, the conspiracy was exposed when Hadad Kabito, a stage blocker on the Kazo–Mpara route, was approached by Bebaze and offered Shs1.3 million to execute the murder.

Instead of accepting the deal, Kabito informed Akim Mutahi, the chairperson of the Kazo–Mubende stage, who then alerted the police.

The intended victim, Musinguzi, reportedly had no knowledge of his wife’s plan until the plot was uncovered. Following the tip-off, police mounted an operation that led to the arrest of both suspects.

Confirming the incident, Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Samson Kasasira said investigators had already recovered several exhibits connected to the case.

“We got evidence and some of the exhibits, and we are still carrying out investigations,” he said.

Kasasira added that Bebaze has been transferred to the Rwizi Regional Police Headquarters for further questioning, while Kyokuhaire remains detained at Kazo Police Station.

“We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation and ensuring that justice is served. Such acts of conspiracy, especially involving a police officer, will not be tolerated,” Kasasira emphasized.

Authorities are now recording additional witness statements and collecting evidence to support the prosecution once investigations conclude.
