Nsangi Police Step Up Crackdown on Panga-Wielding Gangs

By | October 22, 2025

Police in Nsangi Division have unveiled a multi-pronged strategy to curb the rise of panga-wielding thuggery in their jurisdiction.

The plan involves empowering village security committees to work closely with law enforcement in routine patrols and intelligence sharing.

According to a statement by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango on October 22, 2025, the division is also collaborating with local leaders to strengthen community policing initiatives aimed at deterring crime before it occurs

As part of the measures, police are installing lighting systems in known dark spots to discourage criminal activity and improve surveillance.

The operations have been reinforced with additional personnel and motorcycles to enhance mobility and response time.

Onyango confirmed that 43 suspected panga-wielding thugs were arrested during a night operation, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown.

“The division aims to restore order, boost public confidence, and eliminate fear within the community,” Onyango stated.
