KAMPALA — Police in Kampala are investigating a shocking incident in which a 31-year-old land broker, Geoffrey Kakembo, was allegedly stabbed to death by his colleague along Busabala Road in Kibiri A, Masajja, Makindye Division.

According to a statement from the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the suspect, Tonny Mukisa, also a land broker, reportedly stabbed Kakembo in the neck while the two were driving in Kakembo’s vehicle, registration number UBP 620S, on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

Moments after the attack, the vehicle lost control and veered off the road, drawing the attention of a nearby lorry driver who rushed to the scene.

The driver reportedly found Mukisa attempting to support the bleeding Kakembo inside the car.

Police said the murder weapon — a knife — was recovered from the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

“Mukisa Tonny was arrested at the scene with blood stains on his clothing. The knife used in the attack was recovered, and eyewitness statements were recorded,” SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, confirmed in a statement.

Kakembo’s body was later taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination, while Mukisa remains in custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

Police say preliminary findings suggest the two men had been working together as land brokers, but the motive behind the fatal attack is still under investigation.

“The investigation team is conducting further inquiries to establish what led to this tragic incident,” Onyango added.
