Nateete Police Arrest Six in Major Motor Vehicle Spare Parts Theft Bust
Nateete Police Division has arrested six suspects involved in stealing and reselling motor vehicle spare parts, recovering 422 oil and fuel filters during coordinated operations in Kampala.

Nateete Police Division has made significant arrests in a case involving the theft of motor vehicle spare parts, specifically oil and fuel filters.

Acting on intelligence about stolen filters being sold, police conducted operations that led to the apprehension of six suspects.

The initial operation resulted in the arrest of Frank Mumbia and Eddy Byesigwa.

Interrogation of the two suspects revealed connections to other buyers, prompting police to arrest four additional suspects.

They include Lawrence Ssebina from Nateete, Frank Kateregga from Bwaise, Muhammed Zziwa from City Centre, and Nalongo Dorothy Nabankema from Ndeeba.

During the operations, 422 Renken oil filters of various sizes were recovered. The exhibits have been formally documented and stored at Nateete Police Stores.

All six suspects are currently detained at Nateete Police Station while investigations continue.

Police operations were conducted in areas including Sauri Yako, City Centre, Ndeeba, and Bwaise, reflecting ongoing efforts to tackle theft and recover stolen goods across the city.

“This is part of our continued strategy to safeguard property and deter criminal networks involved in theft and resale of motor vehicle parts,” said SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
