Kampala — Justine Nameere has recorded a statement with Police over allegations that she and her husband beat singer-turned-presidential mobiliser Jennifer Nakanguubi, widely known as Full Figure, black and blue and robbed her of cash.
The case stems from an incident on August 29 along Kyadondo Road, where Full Figure says she was attacked by Nameere, her husband, and their associates as she headed to a press conference organized by businessman Moses Kalangwa.
She alleges the group beat her, stole her mobile phone and Shs500,000, and left her with injuries including swollen eyes, puffed lips, and bruises to her face.
Police registered the matter as a robbery case at Kampala Metropolitan Police headquarters.
SSP Patrick Onyango, the Met Police's spokesperson, confirmed that detectives had visited the crime scene, interviewed witnesses, and opened a manhunt for suspects linked to the attack.
On Wednesday, Nameere appeared at CPS in Kampala where she recorded two statements: one as a suspect responding to Full Figure’s claims, and another as a complainant accusing Full Figure of cyber harassment and bullying.
“The investigation is progressing, and those who aided the suspects to evade justice will also face the law,” Onyango said.
The controversy widened this week when three employees of MEI-LIN International Hotel — Juma Kakooza, Jessy Lugeya, and James Asiimwe — were arraigned before Buganda Road Court and remanded to Luzira Prison.
Prosecution alleges they knowingly assisted Kennedy Nsubuga, accused of being part of the group that attacked Full Figure, to escape arrest.
Full Figure, a former singer turned political mobiliser, described the assault as an attempt to humiliate and silence her politically.
Nameere, who is the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Masaka City Woman Member of Parliament in the forthcoming 2026 polls, has dismissed those claims, maintaining her innocence and accusing Full Figure of running a smear campaign against her.
The bitter feud between the two women — both linked to the ruling NRM — has ignited a heated public debate ahead of the 2026 elections, with Nameere pushing to unseat Masaka City Woman MP Juliet Nalukenge.
Police said more arrests are expected as investigations continue.
