An unidentified person whose body was cut into pieces and stuffed into a wooden box has been recovered in a swamp in Buloba, in Wakiso district.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango said the remains were recovered by a bricklayer in Buloba swamp along the Manja-Muzinda road.
“Musoke William, a bricklayer, spotted the locked wooden box at 11:10 am on September 10, 2025. He reported the incident to Nsangi police at 7:30 pm the same day. A team of police officers visited the scene, and the box containing suspected human remains was taken to the city mortuary for postmortem examination,” Onyango said on Thursday afternoon.
The police said the initial examination indicated that the wooden box contained sliced pieces suspected to be human, suggesting a potentially gruesome crime.
According to Onyango, the Nsangi Police Division is working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this incident .
“The police are making an appeal to the public, particularly those who have a missing family member or know someone who might be unaccounted for, to visit Mulago City Mortuary. The purpose is to assist authorities in identifying the victim whose remains were found in a wooden box along Manja-Muzinda road in Buloba swamp,” Onyango said, adding that the appeal is part of the ongoing investigation into the suspected murder case.
“ Identification of the victim is a critical step in understanding the circumstances of the case and potentially locating suspects or persons connected to the incident.”
