Nsangi Police Division has launched investigations into a suspected murder case after a locked wooden box containing suspected human remains was found along Manja-Muzinda road in Buloba swamp.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the discovery was made by Musoke William, a bricklayer, at 11:10am on September 10, 2025.
He later reported the incident to Nsangi Police at 7:30 pm the same day.
A team of officers visited the scene and retrieved the box, which contained cut pieces suspected to be human remains.
The remains were transported to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Onyango said inquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding the case.
He described the discovery as “disturbing and potentially gruesome,” adding that detectives are pursuing leads to uncover the perpetrators.
Police have appealed to members of the public, especially families with missing relatives, to visit Mulago City Mortuary and assist with identification.
The victim’s identification is seen as a critical step toward unravelling the case and tracing possible suspects.
