Police Admit, Guns Recovered in Foiled Shs50M Kyotera Coffee Factory Robbery Belong to Force
Two guns and a motorcycle were recovered.

Police have admitted that the two guns recovered from armed thugs who had robbed shs50 million from a coffee factory in Kyotera belong to the force.

Last week’s robbery happened at  Kifuta Village, Kabira Sub county in  Kyotera District saw a group of five armed men attack Andrew Kagwa, 40, the manager for Mazima Bugaga Coffee factory.

After the attack, the group riding on motorcycles fled the scene with shs50 million they had robbed from the coffee factory manager.

They were later cornered by police and consequently, one them was shot dead while the rest took off.

Two guns and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene.

Speaking on Monday, Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke said the two guns belong to Police.

“Those guns belong to the Police force Our officers lost those guns and  those officers were charged and are remanded,” Rusoke said.

He said police took criminal action against the officers who are currently on remand but explained the move behind charging the officers.

Kituuma said whereas there have been cases of police officers losing guns, the manner in which they were lost in the instant case warranted charging of the police officers.

He said there was negligence on the side of the officers.

“If you lose a gun, we pick interest in the circumstances under which it is lost. If we find you defence very weak, we charge you,” Rusoke said.
