A 70-year-old woman from Napak District has been found hanged in a suspected suicide.
The deceased, identified as Margret Lomuse, was a resident of Naoyaminit Village, Lotome Sub-County, Napak District.
According to eyewitness Rose Lotyang, concerns arose when Lomuse delayed to wake up.
“I went to check on her to ensure she was okay, only to find her body hanging from a rope tied to the roof of the house,” Lotyang recounted.
One of the concerned neighbors, Philip Maruk, was the first to notify the police of the incident. “It was shocking and heartbreaking to see this happen in our community. We immediately called the authorities,” he said.
Police Spokesperson for Karamoja, Mike Longole, confirmed that officers arrived at the scene and documented the crime scene.
“We are continuing with investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident,” Longole stated.
By the time of reporting, the post-mortem report had not yet been released. Authorities continue to urge residents to report any signs of distress among community members and seek support when needed.
