Jinja Businessman Killed, Body Dumped on Lubogo Road

Jinja City is in shock following the gruesome murder of 60-year-old Swaibu Katongole, a prominent businessman and owner of the popular Kubirima Chips and Goat Meat spot on Main Street.

According to Kiira Region Police Spokesperson James Mubi, the deceased sustained deep head wounds and showed signs of strangulation, indicating a violent and premeditated attack.

Blood samples collected from the scene have been sent to the Government Analytical Laboratory in Wandegeya for analysis as part of ongoing investigations.

“This was a premeditated and targeted murder,” Mubi stated, adding that the motive remains unclear. Two suspects have been arrested after being found in possession of a blood-stained T-shirt.

The brutal killing is believed to have occurred in the early hours of the day. Police are conducting a manhunt for additional suspects who remain at large.

Katongole’s Kubirima spot was a popular gathering place in Jinja City, and his death has left the community reeling. Residents have expressed their shock and are calling for swift justice.

Police have urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward as they intensify efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
