Police investigate after discovery decomposing body of 27-year-old
Police in Luwero District have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the decomposed body of 27-year-old Bashir Ssebagala in an unfinished house in Kizito Zone.
Ssebagala, a resident of Kizito Zone in Luwero Town Council, was found by locals at approximately 10:30 a.m., four days after he is believed to have been killed.
Kassim Asiku, the village defense officer, said he received a call from locals reporting a foul odor coming from the unfinished house.
Upon inspection, he discovered Ssebagala's body and immediately alerted the police, who responded swiftly.
The body was recovered by police and taken to Luwero Hospital for a medical examination.
Ali Abiriga, a resident of Kizito Zone, expressed concerns about increasing insecurity in the area, noting that this incident is not an isolated case.
Sam Twinnaemazima, the PRO of Savannah Region, confirmed the incident, stating that the motive for Ssebagala's murder remains unclear.
However, police are actively working to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death and apprehend those responsible.
"Investigations have commenced as we hunt for the killers and find out the motive," Twinnaemazima stated.
Twinnaemazima also appealed to the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and assured that enhanced surveillance measures are being implemented.
"We have now worked on our police cameras from Bombo to Kafu. We will arrest all the culprits involved in this murder, so criminals beware," he added.
Residents of Kizito Zone are now calling for increased police presence and night patrols to enhance security in the area.
The community is in shock and urgently looking to authorities to address these security concerns effectively.
