Police in the North West Nile region are investigating an explosion that occurred in Oya'jo village, Eria Parish, Moyo Sub-county, Moyo District.

Preliminary police reports indicate that the victims, who were engaged in sand mining by the roadside, discovered an abandoned explosive device and accidentally triggered its detonation while tampering with it.
Superintendent of Police Ignatius Dragudu confirmed the incident and identified the critically injured victim as 18-year-old Joseph Apina.
The other injured individuals are Emmanuel Chaciga, 19, Henry Drani, 14, and Saviour Matedra, 20, all residents of Oya'jo village.
Police suspect that the explosive device was left behind during the insurgency in the West Nile sub-region in the early 1980s.
According to Superintendent Dragudu, officers responded to the scene, recovered fragments of the device, and documented the crime scene.
He urged residents to avoid handling unknown objects and to report any suspicious items to the relevant authorities.
