Police in Ibanda district are investigating circumstances under which a jilted man cut off her wife's right hand.
The incident according to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson, the incident happened on Sunday at around 5pm at Bufunda cell, Bufunda ward, Bufunda division in Ibanda district.
"It is alleged that a one Alex attacked Catherine Mbabazi and cut off her right hand with a panga on allegations that she was engaged in an extramarital affair," Kasasira said.
It is, however, not clear whether Mbabazi was legally married to Alex.
"The victim was taken to Kasande Clinic in Ibanda Municipality for treatment and no arrests have been made yet with inquiries still ongoing into the matter."
Police say the suspect is currently on the run as the victims continues to get treatment.
The development comes barely a week after a man in Masaka chopped off the palm of his lover whom he suspected of having an affair with other men.
