Priest arrested over murder of URA staff

Police in Entebbe have arrested Dominic Alinga, a priest in Nakapiripirit over the murder of John Bosco Ngoro, a Uganda Revenue Authority staff.

According to Kituuma Rusoke, the Police spokesperson, they on Saturday received a report of a suspected murder along the road from Kitooro to Entebbe International Airport.

The victim was identified as Ngorok John Bosco, a 30-year-old male employee of the Uganda Revenue Authority’s Domestic Tax Department. He had been stabbed in the neck and head by an unknown assailant,” Rusoke said.

He noted that Ngorok was rushed to a Grade B hospital by the police but was pronounced dead 20 minutes later.

A hunt for the suspects behind the murder started, leading to the arrest of  Alinga, a priest at the Catholic parish church in Nakapiripirit.

He noted that investigations indicate that the priest had been suspended from the church by the bishop on allegations of stealing offertory worth shs6 million.

Police said investigations into the murder are ongoing and that the suspect will soon be arraigned in courts of law.
