Being police spokesperson was one of the greatest honours of my life- Enanga
Fred Enanga

Outgoing police spokesperson, Fred Enanga has said hailed his previous position as one of the greatest honours of his life.

“I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and humanity.  I am leaving the position grateful , excited and with a strong sense of national duty .  The position of police spokesperson was one of the greatest honours of my life,” Enanga said on Monday.

He was responding to his appointment as the new deputy director for Interpol after being relieved of his position as police spokesperson.

In the first major transfers by the new Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba, Enanga was replaced with Kituuma Rusoke who previously headed the KCCA enforcement team.

Speaking on Monday, Enanga hailed the Inspector General of Police and the entire police leadership for trusting him with speaking for the force.

“I applaud the Inspector General of Police and police leadership and express my debt of gratitude for the invaluable support, advice, confidence, team work and trust they placed in me and I have nothing but gratitude and look forward for your continuous support and guidance.”

Enanga also applauded police commanders for always supporting him during the tenure as police spokesperson, that he said had enabled him serve the public diligently.

To the new spokesperson, Enanga welcomed him to the ‘trenches’ of defending the institution.

“You are a fine brain and performer. Keep doing what you are doing. I am reminding you of the immense responsibility ahead . You are taking on a tough task that requires great dedication, always act with integrity and treat every member of the public with respect and compassion.”

Enanga said he will always be available to advise and support his successor.
