Terego teacher detained over defilement of own daughter

A 45-year-old teacher of Wandi Primary School in Anavu Parish, Katrini Sub County in Terego District has been arrested over allegation of defiling his own biological daughter.

The arrest follows a complaint that was made at Katrini Police Station on Tuesday, March 12, by a social worker attached to Peace for Women, a community-based organisation.

According to Josephine Angucia, the regional police spokesperson, Police arrested the suspect from the school and detained him at Katrini Police Station.

The biological mother of the victim also recorded a statement and she revealed that the victim first notified her paternal uncle of the defilement in 2022.

The suspect defiled her several times at various places, including Yelulu village in Odupi Subcounty, Terego District.

The victim's mother said that at the moment the victim is staying with her elder sister.

Police said the victim will be taken to Omugo Police Station to record a statement and undergo a medical examination.

The suspect is still at Katrini Police Station pending transfer to Terego District Police Headquarters, Omugo for medical examinations and further investigations.

Angucia added that Police have kicked off with investigation into the case in which the suspect faces aggravated defilement charges.
