The head of the National Unity Platform (NUP) School of Leadership, Doreen Kaija, has been remanded to prison by court in Kampala.
Kaija, who also doubles as the school’s coordinator and principal, had been missing since Sunday following her arrest by armed men in a drone vehicle in Mbuya.
On Tuesday, she was arraigned before Kanyanya Magistrate Damalie Agumaasimwe who read three charges against her.
Prosecution told court that Kaija allegedly participated in unlawful military drills, allegedly committed on February 12, 2025.
She is also accused of operating the NUP School of Leadership without a valid licence, contrary to the Education Act.
The state also slapped charges of conspiracy to commit a crime in relation to the unlawful military drills.
Kaija, however, denied all charges.
The state prosecutor, Caroline Nambuya told court that investigations into the matter are ongoing, asking the court to adjourn the matter.
Magistrate Agumaasimwe subsequently remanded her until September 29, 2025, when she returns for mention of the case.
Kaija is the 10th NUP member arrested , charged and remanded over unlawful military drills.
