The Court of Appeal is set to hold a Civil Appeals and Applications session at Mbarara High Court, where 22 cases will be heard.

Among these, 11 civil applications filed under some of the civil appeals will also be heard.

The session will run from December 11 to 13, 2024.

It will be presided over by Justice Muzamiru Kibeedi, Lady Justice Irene Mulyagonja, and Justice Dr. Asa Mugenyi.

The Cause list, signed by the Court’s Registrar, HW Rukundo Allen Owembabazi, indicates that land-related matters dominate the appeals to be heard during the session.

Other matters involve estate administration, claims for general and special damages, judicial review, divorce, trespass, and embezzlement.

In an aim to take judicial services closer to Ugandans, address the case backlog, and improve access to justice, the Court of Appeal expanded its upcountry sessions this year to include Civil Appeals and Applications alongside Criminal Appeals.

The Court’s first Upcountry Civil Appeals and Applications session was held in September 2024 at Gulu High Court.
