The management of First Pharmacy has denied involvement in the sale of Coronavirus vaccines as reflected in a police statement.
Kampala Metropolitan Police over the weekend said they had raided several pharmacies in Kampala including First Pharmacy, Modern Diagnostic Laboratory and True Care clinic and recovered over 600 dosages of the AstraZeneca vaccine being sold.
However, addressing journalists on Monday at their premises, Ahmed Yusuf, the Managing Director for First Pharmacy said their premises were never raided by police .
“It is not true that they raided First Pharmacy in Mulago or at our branch in Wandegeya. The police didn’t arrest any of our staff. Therefore, Police didn’t get any Covid-19 Astra Zeneca vaccines from our pharmacy because we don’t have any,” Yusuf said.
Offering to offer CCTV camera footage to depict the operation, the First Pharmacy Managing Director insisted that none of their premises was raided during the operation.
“We believe it is a matter of wrong identification since we share compound with some of the raided pharmacies (Modern Diagnostic Laboratory)which have been doing covid vaccination and issuance of certificates.
Demands apology
The management of First Pharmacy said police got their facts wrong which has since affected their reputation among members of the public.
“It is wrong for police to get facts wrong. It has cost our reputation yet we are a professional pharmacy and we take our business seriously. We therefore demand an apology from police about these serious allegations and a correction from every media house that published the story,” Ahmed Yusuf said.
The Nile Post has however separately learnt that Police is set to issue a statement in regards the incident but it is not yet clear what they are going to say.
