Religious and education leaders in Masaka have called on parents to prioritize long-term planning for their children’s future, emphasizing guidance, discipline, and investment in education as key pillars for success.

Parents across the country have been urged to prioritize long-term planning for their children’s future rather than focusing solely on immediate needs, if they are to secure a more stable and successful life for them.

The call was made by Godfrey Mpuuga Kasiita, the Provost of St. Paul’s Cathedral Kako, during a thanksgiving ceremony organized by Mawanda Hills Church of Uganda Primary School in Masaka.

He noted that preparing children early in life equips them with the skills and resilience needed to navigate challenges and succeed in adulthood.

He also encouraged learners to remain focused on their studies and maintain discipline, urging them not to disappoint parents and guardians who invest heavily in their education.

The school’s head teacher, Michael Kakumba, highlighted the institution’s key priorities, including academic excellence, talent development, and equipping learners with practical skills.

He explained that the school emphasizes hands-on training to enable pupils to become self-reliant in the future, setting it apart from other schools in the Masaka region.

Kakumba added that the school strongly upholds religious values, culture, and discipline, which he said have been central to maintaining its high standards.

However, he pointed out challenges affecting the school, particularly unreliable electricity supply, which disrupts learning, especially for pupils undertaking computer lessons.

He appealed to parents and well-wishers to support efforts to install solar power in order to ensure a stable electricity supply.
