In a major move to strengthen ties and showcase its natural beauty on the international stage, the Ugandan Consulate in Guangzhou is making its debut at the China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) with a special exhibition booth from September 13-15.

"Our intention is to establish long-term partnerships with Chinese tourism companies to jointly promote the prosperity of tourism between the two countries," Judyth Nsababera, Ugandan Ambassador to China noted.

The exhibition booth will be designed to highlight the country’s stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and diverse wildlife. The initiative marks a significant milestone for Uganda’s tourism industry as it seeks to tap into China’s booming tourism market.

CITIE, one of the most prestigious tourism expos in China, serves as a platform for global destinations to exhibit their tourism offerings to key players in the Chinese travel and tourism industry.

With thousands of participants from around the world, CITIE offers Uganda a unique opportunity to increase visibility and attract more Chinese tourists, while also encouraging business collaborations.

The three-day event is seen as a strategic step toward cementing Uganda's presence in the international tourism market.

Lilly Ajarova, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), expressed her excitement about Uganda’s participation, calling it a chance to showcase the country’s tourism capabilities in China.

“We are happy to hear about the Ugandan Consulate's debut at CITIE, which is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Uganda’s tourism potential to Chinese audiences,” Ajarova remarked.

She further noted UTB’s commitment to building strong partnerships that will drive mutual growth between Uganda and China.

China is a key player in the global tourism market, and Uganda’s participation in CITIE opens the door to fostering deeper connections with Chinese travelers and tourism operators.

With Uganda’s array of tourist attractions, from national parks teeming with wildlife to breathtaking scenery and unique cultural experiences, the country is poised to become a sought-after destination for Chinese tourists.

By showcasing its tourism products and services at CITIE, Uganda hopes to not only increase tourist arrivals but also explore investment opportunities that will contribute to the overall growth and sustainability of its tourism industry.
