Ugandan agricultural exporters are showcasing the country's fresh produce at Macfrut 2026 in Rimini, Italy, as part of a strategic push to expand into European markets.

The delegation, led by Ambassador Elizabeth Paula Napeyok and the Uganda Embassy in Rome, includes more than 45 exhibitors from organizations such as Agritrade, Hortifresh and the East Africa Entrepreneurs Association. The three-day event at the Rimini Expo Centre concludes April 23 and features participants from more than 80 countries.

Uganda is highlighting its production of mangoes, pineapples, passion fruits and avocados. During the exhibition, the delegation also provided coffee tastings to promote the country's coffee industry.

Napeyok emphasized that consistent quality and improved logistics are essential for Ugandan farmers to remain competitive globally. She noted that the embassy is also seeking investment in agricultural value chains to support job creation for youth and long-term economic growth.

The fair opened with remarks from Italian Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, who spoke on the need for international cooperation and resilient food systems amid global geopolitical challenges.

To encourage further partnership, the embassy hosted a working dinner on April 22 for officials and exporters to discuss strategies for meeting international market standards.
