Barely a month after opening its doors on February 16, Step Forward Empowerment SACCO is already rewriting the playbook on community mobilization and financial inclusion.

With a staggering 3,157 registered members in record time, the Sacco is rapidly transforming from a local initiative into a fast-growing national force.

At the centre of this momentum is Kamuntu Majambere, the chairman and founder, whose vision of inclusive economic empowerment is resonating across diverse communities.

According to Majambere, the response has been overwhelming, with people “joining the Sacco without any delays” as the Sacco expands far beyond its initial base in Rubaga.

What began as a localized effort is now spreading across more than 16 districts, including Nakaseke, Butambala, and Sironko.

This rapid geographic growth reflects not only strong grassroots appeal but also a rising demand for accessible financial platforms that prioritize people over politics.

In a notable departure from traditional affiliations, Majambere emphasized that the Sacco is not restricted to members of any single political group.

“We are even welcoming people from the opposition,” he said, underscoring the Sacco’s mission to rise above political divides. “This is not about NRM or any party—it’s about empowering Ugandans.”

This inclusive approach appears to be a key driver behind its rapid rise. By positioning itself as a unifying platform focused on economic upliftment, the Sacco is attracting a broad spectrum of members eager to improve their livelihoods.

Looking ahead, the ambitions are bold. Majambere projects that the Sacco could grow to one million members in the future—a target that, given its current trajectory, is increasingly within reach.

As Step Forward Empowerment Sacco continues to expand, it stands as a compelling example of how community-driven financial initiatives can scale quickly when built on trust, inclusivity, and a clear mission.
