MTN Uganda has hosted a Ramadhan Iftar dinner for Muslim business leaders in Kampala as part of its ongoing “Ramadhan Kareem with MTN” campaign aimed at supporting the Muslim community during the Holy Month.

The dinner, organized by MTN Uganda’s Enterprise Business Unit (EBU), was held at Mestil Hotel & Residences and brought together leaders from across Uganda’s Muslim business community for prayer, reflection and networking.

The event sought to strengthen partnerships between MTN Uganda and enterprises while recognizing the role of Muslim business leaders in driving economic growth and innovation in the country.

Speaking at the dinner, Ibrahim Senyonga, the General Manager for Enterprise Business at MTN Uganda, said the gathering reflected the company’s commitment to community engagement and shared prosperity during Ramadhan.

“Ramadhan Kareem with MTN is our commitment as MTN Uganda to celebrate and support the Muslim community during this sacred season. As we gather this evening with leaders who are shaping Uganda’s business landscape, we are reminded that connectivity is more than technology, it is about enabling growth, strengthening relationships and building resilient enterprises,” Senyonga said.

He said MTN’s Enterprise Business Unit continues to provide tailored telecommunications, information and communications technology (ICT) solutions and digital services to businesses ranging from small and medium enterprises to large corporations and government institutions.

Senyonga added that these solutions are intended to help organizations remain competitive and digitally empowered in an increasingly technology-driven economy.

As part of the broader Ramadhan campaign, MTN Uganda has also introduced seasonal bundle offers designed to help customers stay connected during the fasting period.

Under the promotion, customers who purchase any voice or data bundle worth Shs1,000 or more in a day receive 10 free MTN-to-MTN minutes valid between midnight and 5:00am the following day, allowing families and friends to connect during Suhoor and other late-night moments of reflection.

Senyonga said the company is also rewarding customers through various promotions during the season, with lucky users standing a chance to win prizes.

Beyond connectivity, MTN Uganda has rolled out several community-based initiatives during Ramadhan. Through MTN MoMo’s alms-giving programmes, the company is distributing food hampers to vulnerable groups across the country, including women road workers and inmates at Luzira Prison.

In addition, customers who send or receive money using MTN MoMo International Money Transfer during the Holy Month stand a chance to win a fully sponsored international trip, an initiative aimed at strengthening family connections across borders.

The Chief Guest at the dinner, Kampala Capital City Authority Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, commended MTN Uganda and Salam TV Uganda for organizing the event and bringing together Muslim business leaders.

She praised the telecommunications company for its continued support to communities, including vulnerable groups, through initiatives such as charitable donations to hospitals, prisons and KCCA city cleaners.

Hajjat Buzeki also expressed optimism about continued collaboration between the private sector and the city authority to promote development and improve livelihoods in Kampala.

The Iftar dinner forms part of MTN Uganda’s wider Ramadhan Kareem with MTN campaign, which includes mosque activations, community outreach programmes and customer reward initiatives throughout the fasting period.

Through these engagements, the company says it aims to strengthen community connections while supporting faith-based and social activities during Ramadhan.

MTN Uganda is one of the country’s largest telecommunications companies, providing network, digital and financial technology services across all 134 districts.

As of September 30, 2025, the company had 23.5 million subscribers, 14.2 million mobile money users and 11 million active data users.
