Mogo Uganda which part of the Eleving Group, has announced it has  achieved a significant milestone by financing over 100,000 smartphones within just 200 days since launching its smartphone loan product in April 2025.

The achievement highlights MOGO’s rapid growth and its commitment to expanding digital inclusion across Uganda.

At the launch, Tomas Sudnius, Regional Eleving CEO of Asia and Africa Hub, underscored the group’s vision for economic mobility through smart financing.

“Uganda’s potential is vast, driven by a young, rapidly developing population where many still lack access to smartphones. Access to a smartphone equals access to global information and technology, empowering every Ugandan and accelerating the country’s development.”

Smartphone loans were designed to make device ownership simple and affordable. Customers can own a smartphone starting at as low as shs80,000 initial deposit and flexible repayment options, daily, weekly, or monthly starting from shs 848 per day. One requires only a national ID and a mobile-registered airtel SIM card, ensuring inclusivity for all Ugandans.

Growth has been remarkable, since its launch in April 2025, Mogo Uganda’s smartphone loan product has recorded exponential growth, rising from 284 smartphones in April to over 30,000 by September, a remarkable 10,500% increase in just five months.

Monthly growth surged by 736% in May, 97% in June, and more than 100% in both July and August, reflecting the strong nationwide demand for affordable smartphones. This rapid uptake highlights the success of Mogo’s inclusive financing model and its growing impact on digital access across Uganda.

“This milestone demonstrates that when we combine affordable financing, reliable smartphones, and seamless connectivity, we unlock massive social and economic impact,” said Mikhail Vydryn, Mogo Uganda CEO.

“Reaching 100,000 smartphones in 200 days is proof of progress and momentum in the right direction.”

The product’s success is powered by partnerships with Transsion Holdings the parent company of Tecno, Infinix, and itel , for device supply, and Airtel Uganda, which provides 3 GB of free data per month for three months to every new customer.

Mogo says it currently  operates across all districts in Uganda and had a launch in all major cities , with each smartphone financed represents a Ugandan gaining access to education, business tools, and financial inclusion.
