Kampala — Uganda has officially entered the big-screen era with the unveiling of the world’s largest 116-inch RGB Mini-LED TV by Hisense, a launch that combined technology, innovation, and community impact.

The event on September 19, 2025, was attended by Third Deputy Prime Minister Rukia Nakadama as guest of honour, alongside Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu, State minister for Primary Education, who highlighted the potential of technology to transform education across the country.

The 116-inch screen, powered by Hisense’s TriChroma RGB Mini-LED technology, delivers unmatched colour accuracy, brightness, and contrast.

French audio experts Devialet and Dolby Atmos contributed to the TV’s immersive sound, making movies, sports, and gaming experiences feel lifelike.

Despite its colossal size, the television is 20% more energy-efficient than conventional screens and comes with a solar-powered remote control, a nod to sustainability.

Beyond the technology, Hisense announced the donation of 50 televisions to 50 schools nationwide, in partnership with SmartElectronics Ltd., to enhance digital learning.

The initiative is aimed at equipping schools for online lessons in subjects such as mathematics, science, and the arts.

Dr. Kaducu welcomed the donation, saying it will help bridge the digital divide and prepare students for a technology-driven future.

Nakadama praised Hisense for combining innovation with social responsibility, emphasizing that partnerships between government and private sector players are essential for national progress and Vision 2040 objectives.

The Hisense 116-inch TV has already received global recognition, having been lauded at the CES Consumer Electronics Show in California.

Its launch in Uganda signals a shift in home entertainment experiences while demonstrating the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.
