The Rotaract Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, together with its distinguished Honorary Members, officially launched their signature project, The UBUNTU Project, under the theme #CompassionInAction. The initiative was unveiled during a special panel discussion held on Tuesday evening, where Honorary Members shared invaluable insights with club members under the theme of Developing a Winning Mindset as a young professional, with the center discussion topic as “What advice would you give your younger self?”
The evening began with a very informative and awakening conversation from the Honorary Members, who spoke candidly about the values needed to thrive as young leaders in a demanding world.
Atuhaire Maclean from Next Media encouraged members to approach each day with intentionality. “Always have a checklist for the day so you don’t get lost in the busy schedules,” she said, noting how simple habits can transform productivity.
Proceeding to the IPDRR, Joseph B. Ssengooba challenged Rotaractors to rethink how they prioritize their time. “We must learn the difference between what is urgent and what is important,” he cautioned, drawing affirmation from members who related to the pressures of balancing career, service, and personal life.
Conclusively, from the panel, HCP Paul Kigonya, his message was about humility and patience. “It’s okay to start small and grow,” he said, emphasizing that sustainable success is built on a humble foundation with one step at a time.
Following the panel, the Club unveiled the Ubuntu Project, adopting Wisdom Hub Nursery and Primary School in Mpigi, a unique institution that integrates both children with special needs and mainstream learners. The project aims to renovate the school’s washrooms and provide basic needs, scholastic materials, and other essential support.
The Club President, Louis Shamim Adyeeri, highlighted the alignment of the project with Rotary’s broader mission. “Since the District Rotaract Representative Ms Aleber Kanyonza emphasized that the major area of focus this Rotary year is Basic Education and Literacy, we chose to join the cause through this UPlift project,” she said.
The evening was not only informative and inspiring but also marked the beginning of a transformative journey for the Rotaract Club and the community it seeks to serve. The Ubuntu Project will officially be handed over in October, marking the start of lasting impact at Wisdom Hub School.
