Boda boda riders, one of Uganda’s most at-risk groups on the roads, were at the heart of a recent road safety campaign supported by Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU).

The Boda Boda Road Safety Walk—an initiative by Joe Walker—saw CCBU participate as the official hydration partner.

The 21-kilometre walk covered key locations across Kampala and formed part of a wider national advocacy campaign aimed at reducing road traffic fatalities.

Kirunda Magoola, Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability Manager at CCBU, noted that the company’s flagship water brand, Rwenzori Mineral Water, kept participants hydrated throughout the walk.

“Rwenzori Mineral Water provided essential hydration support, ensuring that all participants—from boda boda riders and road safety advocates to partners—stayed refreshed and energised throughout the day,” Magoola said.

As part of the campaign activities, participants visited major boda boda stages where they engaged riders in structured discussions, distributed reflective gear, and demonstrated key road safety practices.

“At CCBU, we are committed to operating with integrity and creating shared value for both our business and the communities we serve,” Magoola added.
