Fresh Dairy welcomes study linking  yoghurt to improving one’s health

Fresh Dairy has welcomed a study by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that approved the first-ever qualified health claim for yogurt, recognizing a potential link between its regular consumption and a reduced risk of type-2 diabetes.

The FDA’s decision came in response to a petition submitted by Danone North America.

The new claim is available for all yogurt makers.

Fresh Dairy Marketing Manager, Vincent Omoth welcomed the finding that at least two cups three servings per week, may reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes according to scientific evidence.

“As a dairy brand, we are excited about the findings that not only give assurance and more delight to our consumers but also re-echo our commitment of being the market leader in East and Central Africa for milk and milk products, as we continue to produce dairy products that are impact people’s lives and health positively,” Omoth said.

He noted  that to reiterate the FDA findings, Fresh Dairy has unveiled a new communication dubbed ‘Yoghurt4Better’ aimed at educating consumers regarding the benefits of consuming Fresh Dairy flavoured Yoghurt which is nutrient-rich with Energy, Carbohydrates, Protein, Fat and Calcium among others, crucial nutrients to support the body with essential nutrition.

He said the new communication encompasses various messages and calls to action such for better health, heart health, better teeth and bones, digestive system, immune system, better weight management and better concentration among others.

Omoth noted  that Fresh Dairy flavoured yoghurt comes in 450g, 250g, 150g, 100g cups and 400g and 200g pouch packs, is available countrywide
