The Microfinance Support Centre (MSC) has commended Mubende Municipal Council PWDs Emyooga Sacco (MMC) for its exceptional performance, distinguishing it as one of the leading Emyooga Sacco within Mubende district.

MMC PWDs Emyooga Sacco, is  for UPDF soldiers and civilians with disabilities.

As one of the top-performing Saccos in Mubende District, the MSC has pledged to brand it.

This pledge was made during an exchange visit at the UPDF rehabilitation and Vocational center in Mubende where leaders from various Saccos in the Rwenzori region , Kassanda and Mubende visited to benchmark from other successful Saccos.

Emmanuel Mbogha, the MSC zonal manager mentioned that MMC PWDs Emyooga Sacco, being one of the leading saccos in the region, is among those slated for rebranding.

He assured them that Microfinance Support Centre will continue to support them financially as long as they operate effectively.

"We want to pledge here that this Sacco is one of our model Saccos in the region, and  therefore we are going to brand it. For as long as you are still performing very well, we shall add you money," Mbogha said.

He hailed the sacco for its effective recovery strategy, noting that their short repayment period of six months deters defaulters.

He expressed gratitude to the UPDF barracks management for hosting them and providing space for the Sacco.

Festus Bandeeba, the RDC of Kabarole district, was impressed by the repayment strategy employed by this Sacco.

He commended the army men for their exemplary discipline in handling Sacco funds.

"I feel so proud of our army, because they are the light of discipline and commitment that's why you see President Museveni planting them in every sector because wherever they are planted, they perform."

Bandeeba urged members whose Saccos are underperforming to emulate the strategy of MMC PWDs Emyooga Sacco.

"In fact, those of you who are not performing are the ones with disabilities."

Lt. Col. Abdul Wahab Mukiibi, the administrative officer of UPDF rehabilitation and vocational center Mubende,  implored Sacco leaders to have a principal of integrity.

"As a leader, you must have integrity. If  you don't have integrity, you can't manage these saccos. How do you recruit your members to join these Saccos? While recruiting members, you have to be keen, you have to know the person whom you're recruiting. When integrity misses in the management of these saccos, they will collapse."

Goodwin Njagala, the MMC PWDs Omwooga Sacco chairperson hailed Microfinance Support Centre  for providing office materials that have streamlined their operations.

He appealed for additional support.

"We are grateful to MSC for providing us with office materials, especially furniture and a system. I have connected this system to my phone, allowing me to check the performance of our Sacco members without needing to go to the office first," he said.

He applauded President Museveni and Microfinance Support Centre for saving them from moneylenders by introducing Emyooga.

"Our Sacco has 277 members with 15 associations, whereby we have 10 in the barracks and five outside. We are giving out this money to our people to stop them  from  going to moneylenders because the moment you start going to them, your belongings will be taken."

Njagala revealed that with the shs 30 million and additional fund of shs 20 million Emyooga funds, their Sacco members have been able to engage into money generating activities like farming and poultry which has elevated their economic and financial status.

"Our lives have been transformed because of the low percentage interest rate on this money. So the moment you give a person a loan, he or she won't fail to pay because of its low interest rate."
