President Yoweri Museveni has called on the people of Budaka to take advantage of government-backed industrialization and wealth creation programs, emphasizing agriculture and manufacturing as key drivers of transformation.

President Museveni has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting Budaka District’s industrialisation plan, saying it will spur job creation and lift more residents into the money economy.

Addressing residents during his visit to the district, Museveni said the plan aligns with national efforts to expand commercial agriculture, manufacturing, and the service sector — sectors he credited with generating millions of jobs across the country.

The President cited examples of successful farmers such as Joseph Ijala in Serere and Minister Fred Byamukama in Kakumiro, who have turned their farms into job centres. He urged locals to emulate their example and use government initiatives to create wealth.

“Budaka and the Bukedi region have great potential for fish farming, coffee, fruit growing, and dairy. Let us defend these programs — the Parish Development Model, Youth Fund, Women Fund, and free education — because they are the engines of wealth creation and transformation,” Museveni said.

The President encouraged residents to fully participate in the money economy and make use of ongoing government interventions aimed at boosting household incomes and industrial growth.
