Speaker Anita Among has called upon the Ministry of Education and Sports to issue clear guidelines to schools regarding the transportation of learners, emphasizing the need to deter the dangerous practice of transporting children on trucks, likened to cattle.

Expressing grave concern over the hazardous transportation methods observed, Speaker Among warned of the potential for tragedy if the practice persists unchecked.

Her remarks were prompted by the raised concern of Sarah Opendi, Tororo Woman MP, who highlighted the continued prevalence of transporting learners on trucks despite government regulations against it.

Opendi stressed the urgency of the situation, particularly with schools gearing up for athletics competitions where the transportation of learners in such unsafe conditions is expected to escalate.

She urged both the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education to provide clear guidance and enforce existing regulations to prevent potential accidents and safeguard the lives of students.

The Speaker's call for action underscores the critical need for immediate intervention to ensure the safety and well-being.
