Education Minister to preside over agricultural show in Jinja

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries in partnership with the Uganda National Framers Federation are set to hold the third National Agricultural Education in Jinja City with the ultimate goal of promoting, attracting and retaining the young people under 39 years of age in agriculture.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda National Framers Federation Kenneth Katungisa, the show  will be held between June 10 and 15, 2024  at the Nile Show Grounds in Jinja City.

Katungisa says the show will be conducted under the theme “Young innovations transforming agriculture for national prosperity”.

The First lady and minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni is expected to preside over the opening of the show , according to Katungisa.

“This year’s education agricultural show will provide a platform for learners to exhibit and compete in innovative ideas and enterprises that they are engaged in both at school and out of school," Katungisa said.

“Students will also participate in the school debates and essay competitions as the theme. Winning students will be awarded certificates, prizes and trophies."

Katungisa also says the federation will provide facilitation for teacher, exhibition space, accommodation, meals and tags for at least 4 students and 1 teacher, tents, electricity and water for the exhibiting schools.
