The Ugandan delegation is spearheaded by the Uganda High Commission in Delhi in collaboration with the Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Airlines and private tour operators.

Uganda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Prof. Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda, is leading the delegation.

Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda emphasized that Uganda’s participation underscores the Mission’s commitment to building on the successes of the Explore Uganda Tourism Roadshow in New Delhi and Ahmedabad, as well as the award-winning exhibition at the Outbound Travel Mart in Mumbai earlier this month.

“Tourism is a potent catalyst for economic growth. Unlocking the vast Indian travel market is crucial in fulfilling the Mission’s mandate under Economic and Commercial Diplomacy, and ultimately propelling Uganda’s economy from Shs117 trillion ($50 billion) to Shs1.77 quadrillion ($500 billion) by 2040,” she said.

The SATTE expo follows a recent Mid-Term Review Meeting held in Mombasa to assess Uganda’s economic and commercial diplomacy strategy.

The meeting brought together key officials, including the Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Ramathan Ggoobi, to evaluate progress on implementing the Economic and Commercial Diplomacy Strategy across Uganda’s missions in Africa.

During the three-day meeting, Ramathan Ggoobi stressed that Uganda’s diplomatic missions should move beyond traditional political roles and focus on delivering tangible economic outcomes such as boosting exports, attracting investment, promoting tourism and harnessing opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area to support the country’s broader growth agenda.

He emphasized that missions must be evaluated on their ability to create market access for Ugandan products and contribute measurable economic value.

In support of this, the Ministry of Finance pledged continued technical and financial backing to help missions align strategy with execution and achieve these objectives.

The South Asia Tourism and Travel Exchange is one of the world’s largest and most influential travel trade exhibitions, bringing together global tourism professionals, tour operators, airlines, hospitality providers and national tourism boards.

It serves as a B2B platform for networking, business development and knowledge sharing across inbound, outbound and domestic travel markets.

Established over three decades ago, SATTE has become a key showcase for industry innovation and partnership opportunities, with thousands of exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors participating each year.

Throughout the expo, Uganda is promoting its scenic landscapes, hiking trails, cycling tours, golf resort hotels and international sports events, alongside premium Ugandan coffee and cultural heritage, reinforcing the country’s appeal to the high-end adventure traveler.
