Bigirwa's pressure group says move to unseat Museveni has dragged on for long

The Eastern Revolutionary Platform (ERP), a pressure group, has said it  is bothered by the fact that the

"In the last 40 years a lot of strategies have been mooted in a bid to unseat NRM but in vein.We have had a number of rebellions that waged wars in west Nile, Northern Uganda and parts of the eastern region, even strong presidential electoral presences in 2026 where Dr Kiza Besigye in lango have been built on sole purpose of winning of the presidency which has had disastrous results," the group leader, Moses Bigirwa said in a press conference.

Bigirwa believes that the key to change lies in the parliamentary elections, utilizing the legislative arm as a catalyst for transformation.

The ERP's proposal focuses on increasing parliamentary representation to 300 members, adopted through sub-region based politics.

This, according to Bigirwa, will equip representatives with the necessary tools to drive change.

However, the move has been met with skepticism, particularly from the leading opposition party, the National Unity Platform (NUP).

Bigirwa has  however expressed disappointment at  NUP's stance, stating that it was unexpected.

He warned that if political parties fail to embrace the strategy, ERP will antagonize all political parties in the Busoga sub-region, their stronghold in 2026 general elections.

Frances Adeko, ERP's Secretary General, emphasized that the proposal is not just about electoral expediency but serves as a vital response mechanism to address the pressing concerns of the populace.

The ERP has given political parties an ultimatum to  respond to the proposal within 14 days, by August 15. If not, the pressure group has threatened to take further action.
