The Mukono Zonal Qualifiers football tournament has begun with 24 teams across four groups battling for limited quarterfinal slots, as early results in Group A signal a highly competitive race for qualification.

The Mukono Zonal Qualifiers football competitions have officially kicked off, bringing together 24 teams divided into four groups for a tightly contested preliminary stage.

The tournament will be played over three matchdays, with each team aiming to secure a top-two finish in their respective groups to advance to the quarterfinals.

Group A features Central College Kabimbiri (Mukono), Quality Trust High School (Buikwe), Kisega High School (Kangulumira, Kayunga), Buwooya Trust Academy (Buikwe), Kasana Vocational College (Mukono), and Kingstone College (Kayunga).

Group B includes Latifah Islamic School, Seroma Christian High School, Hopeful Future Secondary School, Nyenga Secondary School, Kasawo Secondary School, and Galiraya Seed School.

Group C is made up of Mehta Secondary School, Dynamic Secondary School, St Mark High School, St Mary’s Lugazi, Namiryango College, and St Andrew Ndwaddemutwe.

Group D comprises Namagabi Secondary School, Mukono Kings, Ndeeba Secondary School, Maryhill High School, Allied Teachers, and St Andrews.

Matches are being played across four different pitches, with only two teams from each group set to progress to the knockout stage.

In early Group A results, Quality Trust High School made a strong statement with a 4–0 victory over Central College Kabimbiri. Buwooya Trust Academy edged Kisega High School 1–0, while Kasana Vocational College also secured a narrow 1–0 win against Kingstone College.

Quality Trust continued their fine form with a 1–0 win over Kisega High School, and Kasana Vocational College followed up with another 1–0 victory against Central College Kabimbiri.

The only draw in the opening fixtures saw Buwooya Trust Academy and Kingstone College share the spoils in a goalless encounter.

With early points on the board, Quality Trust High School and Kasana Vocational College have emerged as early contenders in Group A, though the race for the top two spots remains open as the tournament progresses.
