TotalEnergies Mini League Kicks Off in Buliisa, Coaches Warn Against Harassment
The 13th edition of the TotalEnergies EP Uganda Mini League launched in Buliisa District with 24 teams. Officials cautioned coaches to mentor young players responsibly and warned against sexual harassment.

As TotalEnergies EP Uganda launches the 13th annual football Mini League in Buliisa District, coaches have been warned against engaging female players in sexual misconduct, a practice officials say undermines the objectives of the league.

The warning was issued by District Sports Officer Godfrey Muhumuza at the launch in Biiso Town Council during the 2025 TotalEnergies EP Uganda Mini League tournament.

The tournament kicked off with a match between female teams Action Stars and Biiso Queens, which ended 3-0 in favour of Action Stars.

Muhumuza, speaking on behalf of the district Chief Administrative Officer, Levy Musinguzi, the chief guest at the launch, said some coaches in past tournaments had acted contrary to the league’s purpose by engaging female players in sexual activities.

He reminded coaches that their main role is to mentor, guide, and nurture young talents.

Muhumuza added that the league is not only meant to identify football skills but also to instill discipline and character in young players.

He also applauded TotalEnergies for promoting teamwork and developing talents in the community.

“The district is committed to working with sponsors to ensure youth talents are promoted through sports activities,” Muhumuza said.

Favour Gilbert Businge, chairperson of Buliisa District Football Association, said the league provides a platform for youth competition but emphasized that continued effort is needed to discover and develop more talents.

George Kabwimukya, the Fufa Delegate from the Kitara Region, urged other companies to invest in sports.

“We need more companies to sponsor young talents, but the people of Buliisa should support TotalEnergies. It is not easy to find a company investing so much in sports,” he said.

Godfrey Lukwago, stakeholder engagement manager at TotalEnergies, said the company will continue community empowerment initiatives through sports.

He called on youths to embrace hard work and teamwork to foster cohesion in their communities.

This year’s Total Mini League features 24 teams—16 male and eight female. Each team received football kits, including jerseys, match balls, and training kits.
