KCB Bank, FMU Strengthen Motorsport Partnership Ahead of Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally in Gulu

KCB Bank Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of motorsport in the country, renewing its long-standing partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) ahead of the upcoming Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally, scheduled to take place in Gulu from 9 to 11 October 2025.

The announcement was made during an official launch event held at Somewhere Else in Naguru, bringing together stakeholders from the motorsport community and representatives from KCB Bank and FMU.

KCB Bank has been a key player in promoting motorsport in Uganda, sponsoring several high-profile events on the National Rally Championship (NRC) calendar this year. These include the Pearl of Africa Rally, the Bugerere Stabex EMC Rally in Jinja, and the Fort Portal Rally.

The upcoming rally in Gulu is not only a tribute to the late Rajiv Ruparelia—a revered figure in Ugandan motorsport—but also a celebration of the sport’s growing influence across the country.

“We see motorsport as a metaphor for the journey of progress and resilience that our country is on,” said Sheila Awori, the acting Head of Communication and Marketing at KCB Bank Uganda.

“This sponsorship is about creating tangible impact—supporting young drivers, stimulating local tourism, and engaging youth through sport. This year has been an exhilarating showcase of what’s possible when passion meets purpose.”

FMU General Secretary Reynolds Kibira echoed the importance of such partnerships, thanking KCB Bank for its unwavering support. He also emphasized the need for safety as preparations for the Gulu rally intensify.
