Assistant coach Devis Nnono Ssozi praised his side’s resilience and promised more progress.

“We have reached the quarterfinals, and we shall qualify for the semifinals and eventually win the finals,” he said.

Second Deputy Luwekula, Pontiano Kyambadde, echoed the optimism, saying, “Our team is playing well, and I know we have the best squad this year. We are convinced that Buweekula will win the 2025 Masaza Cup.”

Supporters, led by Florence Nagawa, the Female Youth Chairperson and head of sports for Buwekula Ssaza, also called for more community backing to sustain the team.

“Our team is the best among all 18 counties of Buganda, but we still need support to cater for the players, including food and other needs,” she noted.

Bugerere, with 17 points, finished third to make the cut in the quarter-finals as one of the two best losers alongside Ssese from Bulange Group, who finished with 18 points.

Other teams that advanced to the quarterfinals include Bulange leaders Buluuli and runner-up Busujju, as well as Muganzirwazza leaders Ssingo and second-placed Kyaggwe.

The mouth-watering quarter-finals draw - even without deflated champions Buddu - will see Buweekula play Busujju, Ssese meet Kyaggwe, and Bugerere play Buluuli.

Mawokota will play Ssingo in the last of the quarters bills.
