Ntungamo Woman MP Josyline Baata Kamateneti pledges continued support for the ruling NRM and President Museveni after losing the party flag in recent primaries.

Ntungamo Woman MP Josyline Baata Kamateneti has reaffirmed her unwavering loyalty to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and President Yoweri Museveni, despite losing the party flag to Viola Burooko in the recently concluded primaries.

Baata said her commitment to the NRM remains steadfast, arguing that true leadership is not defined by holding a position.

“I don’t have the flag at the moment, but I believe leadership doesn’t necessarily mean a station. Some people have stations but cannot even lead or mobilize people,” she said.

She urged her supporters to stay united behind the party, emphasising that losing the flag does not mean abandoning the NRM.

“Some of us have lost the flag but have not lost NRM. Uganda is still here. Ntungamo is still here. We are going to support our government and our president,” Baata added.

Her stance contrasts with some other NRM aspirants who are disputing primary results or choosing to run as independents.

Baata’s message highlights her commitment to the party’s ideals even in defeat.

Meanwhile, Viola Burooko, who secured the NRM flag, will face independent candidates Juliet Kindyahamutima and Docus Arinaitwe, among others, in the 2026 general elections, setting the stage for a highly contested race in Ntungamo.
