Kamuli Woman MP Race: Kadaga's rival pulls out

Just few days to the parliamentary nominations, one of the aspirants for the Kamuli Woman parliamentary slot Deborah Mwesigwa Mugerwa has pulled out of the race endorsing Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.

This means, now the race is left between Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga and FDC’s Proscovia Salaamu Musumba.

The parliamentary nominations are scheduled for Thursday and Friday next week.

Deborah Mwesigwa Mugerwa contested against Kadaga three times, losing on all occasions.

In the NRM Party primaries Kadaga garnered over 110,000 votes against  Mwesigwa's 7,000 votes.

Mwesigwa had said that she would stand as an independent but at a joint press conference held at parliament, she said she had pulled out of the race and had endorsed Kadaga.

Her decision has been as a result of her engagement with the Obwakyabazinga of Busoga.

Kadaga welcomed Mwesigwa's decision to pull out of the race saying she is now ready to tussle it out with FDC’s Musumba
