Events promoter Balaam Barugahara had a baptism of fire on his maiden appearance on NBS Television's Barometer political show which runs every Tuesday between 10pm to midnight.

Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament (MP), Betty Nambooze made it a point to remind the events promoter that he was in the wrong place.

Nambooze said: "When I reached the entrance and saw Balaam, I thought that I made a mistake and came on Saturday. I thought I came on UNCUT Sabula."

UNCUT Sabula is an entertainment related show on NBS TV that airs every Saturday and according to Nambooze, that's where Balaam belongs.

Nambooze added that the events promoter is a "useful idiot" who should not be hosted on such a political talk show, because 'he dilutes debate.'

"Nothing hurts me like seeing someone on TV trying to mislead the country. We are discussing substantial issues like bribery in politics, he's here confusing us. In politics, we call such people useful idiots," Nambooze added.

A "useful idiot" according to the English Dictionary is a political jargon used as a derogatory term for a person who is perceived as propagandising for a cause without fully comprehending its goals. He/she is someone who is cynically used by leaders.

Nambooze asked the moderator, Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa, never to host her on a show with people like Balaam.

Balaam said that he is not a politician but supports President Museveni because of the stability he has brought to the country.

He said: "Many people come to me because they want to access and support the president. I am a scout. I don't have a lot of money. I give people the little money I earn."
