Three family members shot dead by unknown assailants in Lyantonde

Police in Lyantonde district has started investigations into the circumstances under which three people from the same family were shot dead by unknown assailants on Thursday night.

According to the Greater Masaka regional police spokesperson, Paul Kangave, the incident happened at around 2 am in Kakyaza trading centre, Kimuka sub-county when Justus Sendege, 27, his wife Evelyn Ekyampayire and a cousin Robert Mubiru, 40 were shot by unknown assailants at their home which also doubles as a shop.

“We visited the scene as police and recovered three cartridges of an AK47 rifle. We picked the bodies and taken them to Lyantonde hospital. The motive of the assailants is yet to be established as we continue to investigate,” Kangave said.

This comes at a time when two people, including a female Rwandan national were shot dead by unknown assailants along the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway on Thursday night.
