Col. Emmanuel Kwihangana appointed new acting UPDF Air force chief of Staff

President Museveni, who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces has appointed Col Emmanuel Kwihangana as the acting Chief of Staff Air Forces to replace Maj.Gen.James Birungi who was elevated to SFC commander.

Col. Kwihangana has been the director of Engineering for UPDAF.

Speaking at the ceremony to take over office on Friday held at the air force headquarters in Entebbe, the deputy commander UPDAF, Maj.Gen.Gavas Mugenyi commended Maj.Gen.Birungi for being selfless in his service to the air force throughout the years.

"I have no doubt that you will excel in SFC because am sure of your excellence at work. Working with you was such a rewarding experience because you are reliable and focused,”Maj.Gen.Mugenyi said.

The deputy Air Force commander urged the outgoing Chief of Staff to maintain his zeal for work and use the lessons learned from his past experiences to ease his work in his new office.

On the incoming acting Chief of Staff, Maj.Gen.Mugyenyi asked him to emulate his predecessor who he said worked with zeal and positive attitude.

The deputy Air Force commander reminded officers that transfers are career opportunities adding that they are therefore achievements that all members in the force ought to positively utilize in building their military experiences.

“Always ensure to uphold the NRA/ UPDF disciplinary standards even amongst your subordinates and remain focused to the people’s struggle,” he urged all army officers

The outgoing Air Force chief of staff, Gen Birungi congratulated and urged his successor Col Kwihangana to maintain the high standards on top of building on the ongoing programs for its betterment.

“These ongoing projects and achievements were achieved  through teamwork with the guidance of the commander air forces so guard them and build on them. I will always remain available for any issue that requires guidance," Maj. Gen Birungi said.

The function was attended by directors, directors end heads of department at the UPDF Air Forces.
