Police: No one injured in Naalya Fuel Truck Explosion

The Uganda Police Force has confirmed that no one was injured during the Naalya fuel truck explosion that happened along the Northern ByPass, Friday morning.

At around 11:00am on Friday, A fuel tanker, according to eye witnesses exploded into flames after reportedly colliding with a Subaru Legacy car registration number UBD 202B, which was trying to overtake the tanker in the corner which caused a friction that is believed to have sparked off the fire.

Fire fighters spent hours trying to put out the fire.

According to a statement from Police, the force confirmed that there was no injury recorded.

Police also said that the truck, registration number UAW 641D, belongs to Don Uganda LTD.

The truck driver has also been identified as David Mpalanyi (35).

"The tires of the truck came off and it overturned hence catch fire. Nobody was injured," The statement reads in part.

By the time of compiling this report, the truck had been towed away to Kira Road Police Station.
