Unknown assailants kill five children from one family

Unknown assailants have broken into the home of a  Kyenjojo businessman killing his five children instantly and injuring other family members.

The incident according to the Rwenzori West regional police spokesperson, ASP Lydia Tumusiime, happened on Wednesday when assailants broke into Joseph Tumwebaze’s home at Kahompo village, Bufunjo sub -county in Kyenjo district at around 1am.

“They broke the door glasses and gained access to the house, locked one relative, Gerald Akampurira into his room before accessing Tumwebaze’s bedroom where they found his wife and asked about his whereabouts and money,”Tumusiime said in a statement.

“When they were told that Tumwebaze was not at home, the assailants cut and killed the five children.”

The police said the killed children included Atuahirwe Barbara,7, Oscar Alinganiza,4, Linet Ayinebyona,3, Davis Tulinomugisha and one month old Abwooli.

It is also said that the assailants before taking off, they beat the businessman’s wife and dumped her in a nearby river where she was rescued by locals and rushed to a hospital health facility for medical care.

Tumusiime said no suspect has been arrested but noted that investigations into the matter have kicked off.

“We have started investigations to find out the motive of the behind the attack because the assailants never took anything from the house,” the regional police spokesperson said.
